Overview of What to Expect from the Program
What age level do I sign my child up for?
Empire believes every child should register and play age appropriately. However, the coaching staff will be looking for players who are performing at a level that warrants an exception. Holding players back from growth and development to keep logistics simple is not a good approach. If the coaching staff believes a player needs to be moved a conversation about what's in that player's best interest will be had between staff and parents.
Who will be coaching my child?
There are two categories of staff with our house league program. Our professional staff and the volunteers. Professional staff will be running training sessions to ensure all players receive the very best training and education we can provide and that all Empire developmental philosophies are adhered to. Professional staff will be monitoring players on game days. This is important to make sure game day best practices are being followed. Our volunteer staff will attend training sessions as assistant coaches. This will both add to the quality of the training session and allow the volunteer staff to learn from the professional staff. On game days, the volunteer staff will be managing the players directly. It is Empire belief that game days are to be left to the players as much as possible. Coaches on game days are there to facilitate a good experience for the players. What this looks like will vary by age level. See specific information below.
What to Expect per Age Level
Each age level will bring a different approach, curriculum, environment at games and in training. What's appropriate for a 5 year old is not necessarily appropriate for a 9 year old. All of our program is developmentally appropriate and grounded in United State Soccer Federation best practices. Empire views player development as a long term process.
